This is a lazy survey post. It doesn't deserve a title.

So excited :)

I'm getting married FIVE WEEKS from tomorrow. Eek! I'm getting so excited, I can hardly stand it!! Getting a bit stressed out, too. I feel like there's a thousand tiny things that I need to get done...I'm scared I'm going to forget something and not think of it until the last minute! I can totally picture myself dragging my bridesmaids with me to Wal-Mart at 3:00 AM the night before to buy ten dozen little bottles of bubbles.

Jordan is so over all the planning! He keeps saying that he can't wait until it's all finished and we're finally married. I can understand that; I'm feeling pretty over the planning, too. It was so much more fun in the early stages when I could focus on the big, exciting things (like my dress and the colors!) as opposed to all the teeny tiny details.

So, Jordan told me Spencer probably won't be living with us this year. I'm both happy and sad about this. Happy because I'll have more space in the living room for furniture (and hopefully a keyboard); sad because our rent will be a little higher per person. And I like Spencer! I was starting to look forward to having him live with us. I don't think his plans are set in stone yet, though. At this point, it could still go either way.

Okay. Enough of this...I need to get to bed. I have a lot of stuff to do tomorrow!

Why am I....

STILL AWAKE?

This is just silly. I should have gone to bed hours ago! I have to get up and go to the bank before work, AND do laundry because I failed to get up yesterday to do it like I was supposed to. This is WoW's fault. It's taking forever to reinstall, and I'm too excited about it to go to bed before it's finished.

Speaking of finished......

It is! /cheer

Good ol' summer storm

My lights are flickering! I wonder if we will actually lose power. Losing power doesn't sound very fun when Jordan isn't home...if it does go out, I'll just go to bed, alone. No fun in that! The storm is calming down for now, anyway.

I found out today that Jordan's mom and aunts want to give me a bridal shower! I'm excited. Getting married is fun--parties and presents all over the place! In addition to this bridal shower, the church is going to give us a wedding shower, and then I'll have my bachelorette party, too. And then after the wedding, we'll have the big reception and then another reception a week later for the church.

I've gotten SO much wedding stuff done in the past week--it feels good to have all the big stuff out of the way. I'm not feeling stressed at all! I do, however, feel like all I ever talk about/think about is the wedding...what's something exciting going on in my life that's non-wedding-related? Hmm....

Ooh, I started playing the guitar again! That's kinda exciting, right? It feels amazing to be playing an instrument that isn't the flute (sorry flute, but you pale in comparison to the piano and guitar!). My fingertips are already feeling very calloused. :)

Okay, I'm done rambling. I'm going to try to force myself to fall asleep now because I have to wake up and do laundry before work tomorrow. Blah.

Worrying...

I called Jordan half an hour ago to say goodnight. As usual, we talked for a couple minutes about how his shift is going, and guess who stopped by his hotel around 2:00 a.m.? A police officer. He came to tell Jordan that someone had been going around to all the hotels, luring employees away from the front desk, and then robbing them. Yeah. Needless to say, I'm worried. Jordan reassured me that their hotel doors are locked at this hour and he wouldn't be stupid enough to let someone he didn't recognize inside...but still! Just the idea that some crazy person is running around trying to rob hotels...ugh. I worry too much...(it kinda makes me dread becoming a mom someday. I'm going to be a wreck when I have to send my kids off to kindergarten).

Well, I can't sleep, so I'm going to fill out this silly survey. Hopefully, I'll be tired enough to go to bed by the end of it.

A Really Good Kiss

I just started a book called Literacy and Longing in L.A. (by Jennifer Kaufman and Karen Mack) I'm only fifty or sixty pages end, but I'm already recommending it--very funny read! Here's a quote from it that I love:

"I have this fantasy book club in my mind where other people feel as passionately as I do about reading. As if it were a really good kiss. The sheer pleasure and intimacy of having a relationship with a novelist and all the characters is transcendent--even sensual. Certain passages keep resonating in my head long after I've closed the book, and I often can't wait to get back to the story, as if it were a secret lover."

I have to work tonight and all day tomorrow (double shift, boo) and Monday night, as well. How depressing...especially when I'm in the mood to sit around and read for hours! I guess I'll have to wait til Tuesday.

Relaxing, Reflecting, Remembering

Even though no one ever reads these surveys, I like filling them out. It's relaxing and gives me a chance to reflect and remember things about myself that I haven't thought about in a while--like the last time I crawled out a window...lol.

1. First thing you wash in the shower?
My hair.

2. What color is your favorite hoodie?
Green with pink letters.

3. Would you kiss the last person you kissed again
Of course. I'd kiss him a billion more times.

Occasionally.

5. How are you feeling RIGHT now?
Relaxed and content, but kind of not wanting to go to work tonight.

6. What’s the closest thing to you that's red?
Picture frame.

7. Tell me about the last dream you remember having?
I was dreaming about the night after Jordan and I get married. For some reason, it was Christmas and my grandparents were there.

Not yet!

A nice biscotti to dip in my coffee.

About once a week :\

Cabbage Patch Kids.

12. Are you emotional?
Yes.

13. Have you ever counted to 1,000?
Yeah, though not any time recently.

14. Do you bite into your ice cream or just lick it?
Lick. Biting ice cream is really painful for me--my teeth are very sensitive.

15. Do you like your hair?
Yeah. I wish it was a bit thicker, though, like my mom's.

16. Do you like yourself?
Yes.

17. Would you go out to eat with George W. Bush?
Sure; I don't dislike him so much that I wouldn't eat with him.

18. What are you listening to right now?
A Time for Us from my Romantic Strings cd.

19. Are your parents strict?
Not really.

20. Would you go sky diving?
No. I'm not big on taking risks. Especially the kind that could kill you!

21. Do you like cottage cheese?
Yeah, in moderation.

22. Have you ever met a celebrity?
No.

23. Do you rent movies often?
Not very often. I'm horrible at remembering to take them back on time...I need to get Netflix!

Yeah.

31. Do you own a gun?

Once or twice...

47. Is your hair curly?
No. Wavy if I let it air dry.

49. Do looks matter?
To an extent. It depends on who's looking, I guess.

50. Could you ever forgive a cheater?
Yeah.

51. Is your phone bill sky high?
I'm still on my parents' cell phone plan...that'll change after the wedding, though.

52. Do you like your life right now?
Yes. Very much.

53. Do you sleep with the TV on?
I used to...not anymore, though. I've heard that falling asleep with TV/music/etc on will make you dependent on it and not able to fall asleep without it.

54. Can you handle the truth?
Yes.

55. Do you have good vision?
Nope! I had to get glasses when I was nine and my eyes have only gotten worse since then. Jordan is in the same boat...our kids are going to have horrible eye sight.

56. Do you hate or dislike more than 3 people?
I don't hate anyone. I can think of 2 people immediately that I dislike, but that's about it.

In Less Than Two Months...

I'm getting married in less than two months and I'm ridiculously excited about it. If the rest of our planning could be miraculously done (wouldn't that be amazing? I'm not looking forward to hand-addressing 200 envelopes this week), we would get married tomorrow. So why is it that, lately, everyone has been asking us if we're nervous? Anxious? Scared? I know that marriage is a pretty big step and we're relatively young to be taking it, but anxiety is the last thing that I'm feeling. As Jordan has grown fond of telling people, we already feel and act like we're married. What's so scary about making it official? I can't wait to be Amy Locke. (Doesn't that sound/look fantastic?!)

On to a less happy subject. Our apartment feels so empty. Kylie and Carissa both moved out, leaving the whole place to Jason, Jordan, and me (well, until Sara moves in on Friday). I miss Carissa, but not terribly. North Liberty is only ten miles away, so of course we'll still see each other frequently. Her keyboard is a different story... I played it when I was stressed, bored, angry and frustrated--half an hour every day, at least. I played it while waiting for the water to boil or the coffee to brew or the oven to preheat. Now I don't know what to do with myself! I wrote a poem for my poetry writing course last month that is oddly appropriate. I can relate to it much more now than when I wrote it...

To My Piano

Your shining fingers carefully hold
Every fingerprint of mine.
How I miss you!
My fingers are lost without you,
Wandering aimlessly on desks
And armrests,
Missing our songs.
Your fingers wait patiently,
Eager to feel my branding thumb
On middle C. I’ll meet you there.
We’ll make some new music.

*sigh* Well, if nothing else, the loss of the keyboard has prompted me to return to neglected hobbies. Reading (for pleasure, not for class...) and journaling (or blogging, I should say), among other things. I actually got my flute out from under the bed last night and played for a while. I wish it wasn't such a piercingly loud instrument, though. I think on my next trip to Burlington, I'll steal my acoustic guitar back from Matt.

Well, I think it's time to take a shower and go to the library. I finished the book I was reading last night ("The Name of the Wind" by Patrick Rothfuss. Great fantasy book. Fantasy has never been my favorite genre, but I absolutely loved it) and I need something new to read tonight when Jordan goes to work.
