Something Amazing...

I discovered something amazing recently: Swiss Miss Marshmallow Lover's Hot Chocolate. When I bought it, I curiously noted that its box was twice as large as the box of any other variety of the same brand. Why is the box so much bigger? Well, because there are twice as many envelopes. That's right, each serving of hot cocoa comes with an additional envelope full of nothing but tiny marshmallows to put on top. Amazing, right?!

And now for something a little less amazing...

Does the idea of college scare you or excite you?
Um, it excites me that I'm almost done with it!

Who was the last person to confide in you with something?
Jordan.

What colors are you wearing right now?
Blue and white.

Could you go for something to eat?
Nah. I just had a big pile of potato chips and some hot chocolate.

Are there any songs that you really dont like but they just get stuck in your head?
Yeah.

What site did you visit before this one?
ICON.

When youre getting ready to "settle down" when you're older do you see yourself living in a small town or in the city?
Something in the middle. Like Burlington. Or a suburb, so I could have the small town feel with a bigger city conveniently close by.

What was the last thing you touched other than the keyboard?
My face because I sneezed.

Do you change your look often?
No.

Think to the last time someone said thank you to you, what had you done to earn it?
I packed Jordan's "lunch" for work tonight.

Where all have you been so far today?
Class, Ped mall, DMV, Burger King, home.

If you were out somewhere, who would you most likely be seen with?
Jordan or Carissa.

Who is someone who never fails to make you smile?
Jordan, Carissa, Katie, my parents.

Is there anything thats worrying you at the moment?
Yeah, my classes! I have so much to do...I definitely shouldn't be wasting time on this survey.

Honestly, do you wish there was someone still in your life who used to be but for whatever reason isnt anymore?
Yeah, there are a few friends from my teenage years that I miss being close to...but at the same time, I'm not totally broken up about that. I'm content with my small circle of friends and family.

Could you go for shopping currently?
Not this instant...

What are you in need of buying?
Eggs! I went grocery shopping yesterday and totally forgot that we needed them.

Do you wear jewlery a lot?
My rings. I guess I wear my circle necklace from Jordan's Grandma a lot, too.

When youre in front of the mirror do you seem to always find something you need to fix about yourself?
Pretty much.

What's something really funny that has happened recently?
This morning, I was making toast and coffee for Jordan and myself...Jordan thought it would be funny to sneak into the kitchen and stand right behind me to scare me. I turned around, tripped over his foot, and dropped the toast on the floor...jam-side down. He felt so bad for making me drop it that he ate it anyway!

Do you think you've found the one you want to marry yet?
I should hope so.

Who in your household do you not have a good relationship with?
No one.

Honestly, would you rather be single or in a relationship?
In a relationship.

Do you and your best friends have a lot in common, or are you guys pretty different?
Both! Our personalities are very different, but we have a lot in common.

Do any of your friends not get a long at all? How good or bad does that work out for you?
Not really.

What time is it?
11:54 p.m.

Do you have anything else to do before you go to sleep?
Homework...blah.

Which do you spend more time on facebook, xanga,or myspace?
Definitely facebook. (lol, xanga)

Whats something you do to take your mind off things?
Watch TV, listen to music.

What school year do you think was the most memorable for you out of any?
My first year at U of I. Pre-college, I guess my senior year of high school.

Which scares you more the idea of falling in love or falling out of love?
It's never even occurred to me to be scared of falling in love. The idea of falling out of love is much scarier, in my opinion.

Do you see your relationship status changing anytime in the near future?
Definitely not.

What's something you can't wait for to happen?
The holidays! My birthday, Thanksgiving, Christmas...all that good stuff. Ooh, I can't wait to put up our little Christmas tree!

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times...

So, the first writing assignment for my fiction class is to write about either the best or worst thing that has ever happened to me. Yeah...pretty tall order, huh? I'm going to be utterly predictable and say that the best thing that ever happened to me was Jordan. But how do I translate our three years together into a nice little six-page story? How do I pick a "best thing" in particular? Was it when we first met? When we first said we loved each other? When we became engaged? When we got married? ...See what I mean? Hmmph.

That being the case, I've decided to write about the worst thing that has ever happened to me. And it just so happens that it didn't really even happen to me...it happened to Jordan (yes, when his lung collapsed). He defines so much of me. I like that. I vowed to spend my life with him, wouldn't it be strange if he didn't? Nonetheless, I'm left wondering this: what was the worst thing that ever happened to me before I met Jordan? Or the best thing, for that matter? I feel like my life hasn't been extreme enough for me to be able to point out an absolute high or low point (excluding Jordan). That bothers me a bit. Maybe I just haven't given it enough thought. Hmm...

Well I don't like this assignment, anyway. Isn't this a FICTION WRITING CLASS? Why are we being forced to write a NONfiction personal narrative? Boo.

It is enough!

"[Mrs. Dashwood] was first called to observe and approve [Edward] farther, by a reflection which Elinor chanced one day to make on the difference between him and his sister. It was a contrast which recommended him most forcibly to her mother.
'It is enough,' said she, 'to say that he is unlike Fanny is enough. It implies everything amiable. I love him already.'
'I think you will like him,' said Elinor, 'when you know more of him.'
'Like him!' replied her mother with a smile. 'I can feel no sentiment of approbation inferior to love.'"

Oh yes...I'm loving this book. (Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen.)

My first day of classes went really well. I think the playwriting seminar that I was so worried about is going to be super fun. We had our first group writing exercise...everyone had to write a terrible two-page play in fifteen minutes. Our TA said that not everything we write will be brilliant, so we might as well get our crappiest work out of the way on the first day of class. After we all wrote our awful plays, we had other people in class read them dramatically. :) Oh, and to my relief, only two of the ten people in the class are playwrights. Everyone else is a fiction writer and/or poet that was forced into this section. The House Seminar (with playwriting, poetry, fiction, and nonfiction sections all together) is this afternoon. I have no clue what to expect.

I think the class that will be the most difficult is my vocabulary building class (which I'm taking online). I have to memorize Greek and Latin words/suffixes/prefixes and then be able to recognize them in modern English words. Sounds fun, right?

One thing that I'm not loving about my schedule is the daily back-and-forth of work and class. I woke up at 10:00 and panicked because I thought I was late for work...then I remembered that it's Wednesday, not Thursday. Oh well, I'm sure that I'll get used to it. And now, off to the shower!

Sunday, August 23, 2009

Feeding my survey addiction.

Have you ever taken a shower with anyone before?
Plenty of times.

You just drank 52 shots, what would you be doing?
Um...probably dead or dying from alcohol poisoning. I sure wouldn't be conscious.

Do you hate the last person you kissed?
No.

Have you had sex with more than 25 partners?
No.

Would you ever get a tattoo?
I'm open to the possibility.

Who is your last text from?
Carissa.

Last person you talked to on the phone?
My mom.

What was your last thought before you went to bed last night?
I was actually trying to decide what I'm going to wear on the first day of classes...I'm lame, I know.

Are you satisfied with what you currently have in life?
Yes.

Think back to the last person you kissed, how many times have you cried in front of them?
Tons of times.

Have you ever laughed at something that wasn't meant to be funny?
Yep.

Anything good happening tomorrow?
Classes are finally starting.

Want something you can't have?
Yeah. A dog :(

Would you consider yourself to be spoiled?
Somewhat. My parents definitely spoil me. Jordan only spoils me a tiny bit.

Would your parents be mad if you came home drunk?
If I came home drunk to their house, yeah, I'm sure they would be. But I don't think they would say anything about it.

Where is the last person you kissed?
In bed.

Do you think your past mistakes made you into a better person?
Some of them.

Have you held hands with anybody in the past week?
Yep.

Do you think you have made anyone happy recently?
Yes...even though I'm been pretty moody lately :\

Have you ever not been able to get someone off of your mind?
Yes. When I first start dating Jordan and he wasn't living with my family yet, he was all I could think about. :)

Can things possibly get better?
Some things could be better...but that's life, eh?

Do you open up to people easily?
If someone makes an effort to get to know me, I'll open up.

What is the last thing you said aloud?
"That explains why I've been so moody lately...I've been PMS-ing" lol

Have you ever kissed anyone whose name started with V?
V...no.

Are you currently frustrated with anyone or anything?
Yeah.

Did someone screw you over lately?
Not really. Not on purpose, at least.

When is the last time you cried?
A few weeks ago.

Have you ever told someone of the same sex you were in love with them?
Nope.

Do you cry easily?
Not really.

Ever cried while on the phone to someone?
Yeah.

What should you be doing right now?
A nap would have been a wise choice...but it's too late now.

Who did you last ride in a car with?
Jordan, when we went to Village Inn Friday night.

How many tattoos do you have?
None.

When was the last time you watched a horror movie?
I can't remember...I don't like them very much, so I hardly ever watch them.

Did you have any unread messages when you woke up today?
No.

Have you ever seen the last person you texted naked?
Yeah.

Do you think you can last in a relationship for six months?
Yes lol.

Do you remember the first time you kissed the last person you kissed?
Yeah.

Do you have someone of the opposite sex you can tell everything to?
Yep.

Next time you will kiss someone?
Before I leave for work.

Has anyone said they love you in the last week?
Yes.

Have you ever had a stalker?
Nah.

Have you ever found someone you really, really, really liked?
Yes...

Think of your last two kisses, were they with the same person?
Yes.

Where will you be in 1 hour?
On my way to work. Boo.

Have you ever kissed someone inside a vehicle?
Yep.

What are you doing tonight?
Working til 9 or 10. After that, I'll probably watch TV then pass out at 11 or so.

Brrr

So I just got an email from the choral department at the U of I, saying that auditions for university choirs are coming up soon. I was actually considering it, and then I saw what times they meet. I can't be in any of them. :( Well, I could, but I would have to drop Tuesday and Thursday hours at Applebees, leaving me with nothing but Saturdays and Sundays. I don't want to do that. Oh well...maybe next semester.

Brr, it's cold out! Well, for August. I got an iced mocha and an apple salad from McDonalds on my way home from work because I was craving it, but now I don't want it! It's such a summery lunch--it feels wrong to be eating it on a chilly rainy day. I should have skipped the fast food and made myself a cup of coffee and a grilled cheese sandwich...

I have half an hour before I have to go back to work. The temptation to fill out a stupid, unoriginal survey is strong, but I'm going to resist...and start reading my new book instead. And try to eat my cold salad.

I'm actually excited?

I'm starting to get really excited about classes starting. It feels a little weird, to be honest. This summer has been so long...and it's been wonderful, of course, but I'm ready for it to come to a close. And I'm definitely ready to cut back my hours at Applebees--starting next week, I'll only be working 4-5 shifts per week, (yay!). Furthermore, for the first time, I feel like I'm going to love every single one of my classes. Even the creative writing track seminars that I'm so scared of...I think I'll like them once my initial nervousness goes away. And my online fiction writing class is going to be amazing! Shorter than the males, taller than most of the females.

Chocolate+Coffee+Ice Cream=Amazingness

Lately, I've been getting super lonely while Jordan is at work. Lonely and bored. To combat those feelings, I've decided to have a major girly night tonight. I rented Confessions of a Shopaholic and bought a pint of Starbucks Mocha Frappuccino ice cream (which is amazing, by the way!). Sound like a good plan? Yeah, I thought so, too.

Back to school, back to school...

Classes start in twelve days. BOO.

Although I'm excited about the creative writing track program, I'm more nervous than anything. When I found out that I was being put in the playwriting section, I told myself that I would spend the whole summer teaching myself how to write a play. Unfortunately, planning my wedding, moving, and working 20-30 hours a week at Applebees kind of ruined that plan. So in twelve days, I'm going to walk into an advanced, reportedly "rigorous" playwriting class without knowing the first thing about writing a play. Can I go back in time to last semester and take intro to playwriting, please? That would be fantastic. My only comfort is the knowledge that there will probably be others in the class with the same dilemma, since the poetry and fiction sections filled up so fast. Well, that, and the fact that I'm guaranteed a spot in the fiction section next semester. :)

None of my other classes are worrying me at all. The only other class that I have on campus is Prose by Women Writers. I'm taking my other classes--Fiction Writing and Word Power: Building English Vocabulary--online. I'm really looking forward to both of those.

All this talk about going back to school makes me want to relax and waste my time with a nice long survey.

Are you ready for a long survey that actually has some new questions?
I wouldn’t be wasting my time on it if I wasn’t!

Unless I’m with people I’m very comfortable with, that’s rather typical of me. It just means I don’t feel like talking.

What were you doing at 3am this morning?
Sleeping.

Do you have a friend you can tell stuff to and you’re sure they won’t tell anyone?
Yes.

The Honeymoon's Over!

I think I'm having a small case of wedding-planning-withdrawals. After a year of carefully selecting flowers and colors and flavors, it's over in one day. /sigh. Nonetheless, I was so happy with how everything turned out. It was perfect!

Unfortunately, our honeymoon wasn't quite as perfect. We got lost in Ohio and didn't make it to our Bed and Breakfast until 10:00. By that time, all the nice, cute little restaurants were closed, so we begrudgingly had Arby's. Cedar Point was amazing--SO MUCH FUN! However, it was way too hot and sunny on the day that we rode all the roller coasters, and way too cloudy and cold on the day that went to Soak City (the water park inside Cedar Point). Poor Jordan...his neck and arms got so tan from the first day; he was all ready to get his back and stomach equally tan at the water park, but the sun wouldn't come out. Then tere was this really cute restaurant/gift shop that I wanted to go to called The Cheesehaven, about a mile away from our B&B. They just so happen to be closed on Mondays AND Tuesdays, so were didn't get to go...boo. We also got lost leaving Ohio. Go figure.

There were so definite high points, though. The B&B was gorgeous! Breakfast was fantastic and we loved our room (especially the private jacuzzi!). As part of our romance package, we received a bottle of very tasty sparkling wine and chocolate covered strawberries, and one-hour massages for each of us. The massage was heavenly. I was so sore after riding Cedar Point's biggest wooden roller coaster, The Mean Streak (I don't recommend it. It was so bumpy that it was impossible to enjoy the ride. I felt like my bones were going to tear out of my skin.); the massage definitely eased the pain. It was also incredibly relaxing. Jordan won me two stuffed animals at the Cedar Point (one cute one and one not-so-cute one). One was from some toss-a-ball game, and one was from The Guessing Game. They guessed Jordan's age at seventeen (you have to be within two years of the actual age...in other words, they thought he could be as old as nineteen or as young as fifteen), lol! He took off his wedding ring before going up, but I don't think they would have noticed it if he had left it on. On the way home, we stopped at a Cracker Barrel for supper (which I had been craving for the whole honeymoon), and my sweetiepie husband let me relax and sleep while he drove the whole eight hours.

The honeymoon was great, but we're happy to be home.
The wedding was fantastic, but we're just happy to be married. :)
